The theme’s out, and your MIST spirit has undoubtedly been building up… what better way than to let some of it out than a basketball tournament? Whether you’re itching to beat a rival, want to debut a new team, cheer for your own team, or hang out with your MIST buddies, this tournament is the place to do it.
Without further ado, here are the details, including rules and registration! This information is also available on Facebook, so be sure to spread the word to your friends!
General Info
- During the Exhibition, no victory points or scores will be put towards the actual MIST Tournament. It’s essentially a no-strings-attached competition.
- ALL teams from all schools in NY are welcome to register, and you do NOT have to be a prior participant in MIST to join in (any and all faiths highly encouraged to enter)
- The tournament is for High School Students ONLY. No college-level attendees are allowed to participate.
- The Sisters-Only tournament will be held from 12 PM – 3 PM, and the Brothers-Only tournament will be held from 3 PM onwards.
Tournament Rules
- Tournament rules, where applicable, will generally follow MIST Basketball competition rules: http://www.getmistified.com/MIST_2k11Rulebook_Official.pdf (pg 69)
- Each team must have 5 players minimum to play, with 3 additional optional alternate players (max team size: 8 )
- Multiple teams from the same school may register, so long as each separate team has the 5 player minimum requirement (players may NOT swap between teams mid-tournament and play for another team from their same school)
- Teams are allowed to add players from schools other than their own to their roster, so long as those player(s) are not already registered for another team;
NOTE: this rule is only applied for Basketball. For all other competitions during the actual MIST Tournament itself, recruiting competitors from other schools is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN. - Games will be played 5 on 5, bracket-elimination style
- All Teams MUST be present on time and in full attendance for their games- failure to do so will result in a forfeit for that particular game

- Complete and submit the Registration Form by midnight on Sunday, December 18th. Team registrations will NOT be taken on-site on the day of the tournament.
- Registration Fee is $5 per player. Spectators, Coaches, Parents can attend for free. Payments may be made online or on-site at the tournament
- Small teams who cannot bring 5 players are allowed to combine with other teams if needed (please indicate so in the registration form);
NOTE: this rule is only being allowed as an exception for this exhibition. For the other competitions during the actual MIST Tournament itself, combining small schools together is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN. - Team information & player rosters may be edited and changed up until the Registration deadline by contacting us.

Event Details
- Food and drinks will be sold at the gym, please bring extra pocket cash as necessary
- Team uniforms are strongly encouraged, but not required
- Brothers may NOT attend nor spectate at the Sisters’ Tournament
- Attendees are to stay in the Gym through the duration of the event- wandering outside the masjid or in NYCMC classrooms is NOT permitted
